Dr. Caio Miguel received his Ph.D. in Psychology - Applied Behavior Analysis from Western Michigan University under the co-advisement of Dr. James Carr and Dr. Jack Michael. Currently, Dr. Miguel is an assistant professor of Psychology  and an affiliated faculty in the Doctoral program in Education at California State University, Sacramento. Dr. Miguel holds adjunct appointments at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology -Los Angeles, and at the University of Sao Paulo - Brazil. He is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Dr. Miguel is the past-editor (2009-2011) and current Associate Editor of the journal The Analysis of Verbal Behavior. He currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, The Behavior Analyst, The Psychological Record, and The Brazilian Journal of Behavior Analysis.  Dr. Miguel has given over 100 professional presentations about behavior analysis and verbal behavior in North America, South America and Europe, and has had his work published in peer-reviewed journals and edited books in English, Portuguese, and Spanish. 

Prior to joining Sacramento State, Dr. Miguel worked as a program specialist in the Intensive Instruction Program at the New England Center for Children, where he also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Master's program in applied behavior analysis at Northeastern University.

Currently, Dr. Miguel teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in applied behavior analysis, developmental disabilities, radical behaviorism, and verbal behavior.
